Join Us for Two Special “Push-In” Ceremonies
Celebrating the Arrival of New Fire Trucks to Ouachita Parish
The Ouachita Parish Fire Department (OPFD), in partnership with the Ouachita Parish Police Jury (OPPJ), is proud to invite you to two ceremonial events honoring the expansion of the department’s fleet with new fire trucks. These additions mark a major step forward in our ongoing commitment to protecting and serving the residents of Ouachita Parish.
Each ceremony will include remarks from Fire Chief Bobby Moore and Police Jury President Shane Smiley, who will highlight how these new vehicles will enhance emergency response efforts across the parish.
About the Tradition
The “Push-In” Ceremony is a cherished tradition in the fire service, dating back to the 1800s when firefighters would unhitch their horses and manually push the fire wagon back into the station. Today, this symbolic act continues as a meaningful way to honor the past while embracing progress.
We invite all members of the public and media to attend and take part in this historic moment for Ouachita Parish. Please share with your audiences - children welcome and can play on the fire trucks!
